An Intriguing Journey into the Past: A Surprising Tale Unveiled Via the iGENEA DNA Test

Family name Laube

When I ventured into the labyrinth of my genealogy via the iGENEA DNA test, the surprises I discovered overturned my previous assumptions about my lineage. Traced back to Central Europe, my surname 'Laube' has the charming connotation of a leafy garden shelter. Unexpectedly, my DNA revealed Celtic ancestry, challenging the long-held belief of purely German antecedents. My roots extend into regions beyond Germany and Austria, my DNA tells an international tale of migration and history. The test even hinted at a common male ancestor who likely witnessed significant historical events, adding a hint of intrigue to the family narrative.

I never anticipated the thrilling personal history that awaited me when I first decided to delve into the complex maze of genealogy. The iGENEA DNA test I took served as my time machine, catapulting me into both familiar and unknown realms of my past.

The roots of my surname, 'Laube', revealed the first surprise. The Laube lineage traces back to Central Europe, particularly around Germany and Austria. I was always aware of my partially German heritage, but what I discovered about the meaning of the Laube name was quite unexpected. I learned that 'Laube' means 'arbor' or 'bower' – a leafy, sheltered recess often found in gardens. This led me to imagine that my ancestors may have been skilled gardeners or that they maintained beautiful, thriving gardens. I plan to garden as a hobby now, to honor these ancestors.

Another dip into the familial pool unveiled a small percentage of Celtic DNA I carry within myself, a delightful surprise. Evidently, my ancestors were part of the Celts, the early European culture infamous for their artistry and prowess in warfare. These findings make my heritage an appealing cocktail of different cultural histories.

Before the DNA test, I assumed that my family mostly resided in Germany due to our surname. But the genetic report suggested something different. It indicated that my ancestors moved around Europe, as small traces of DNA connect me with regions far too broad than just Germany or Austria.

I also found out that the male-line Y-DNA test linked me intricacies of my genetic history. It suggested a common male ancestor, who might have been a part of significant historical events, as he happened to reside in Europe during key historical periods.

To sum it up, the iGENEA DNA test has been an enlightening revelation about my past, injecting colors of surprise and intrigue into the monotone version I knew before. It made me realize how international my roots truly are, dispelling the self-contained bubble I was living in regarding my personal family history. It's been more than just learning about my past; it shed light on who I am today, connecting me to my roots in a very intimate way. It told me stories about my predecessors, stories that have been imprinted on me.
